Annotation:
In the context of modern import substitution in the field of information technologies the training of qualified specialists for working with domestic network equipment is of particular importance. Within the framework of the federal standard, "Network and System Administration" direction is implemented, which includes demonstration exams that simulate the infrastructure of a modern enterprise and assess students' knowledge and skills in building, operation and safety control of network systems security. The authors of the article consider key criteria for selecting network equipment – fault tolerance, availability and security – taking into account business and regulatory requirements. Russian manufacturers of equipment, such as Eltex and EcoRouter, their approaches to production and functional specific features are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the problems related to assessing network security level, mechanisms for increasing infrastructure stability and methods for their implementation. Recommendations are provided for structuring an approach to ensuring network security based on the OSI model, thus contributing to improving the reliability and competitiveness of enterprises in the current technological environment.
