Improvement of the methodology for casing column centration calculation

Annotation:

The article discusses the limitations of the traditional method for calculating casing string centering regulated by the API 10D standard, based on the use of an average value of the restoring force. It is found that this approach does not reflect the real nonlinear relationship between the column eccentricity and the restoring force, especially in the initial and limiting zones of centering, which leads to significant errors in calculations and a decrease in the quality of cementing. An algorithm is proposed that takes into account the full experimental load curve obtained on the basis of experimental data. The algorithm includes the construction of accurate load curves, column discretization and inverse interpolation to determine the centering profile. The algorithm allows for a more accurate assessment of the eccentricity degree, optimization of the centralizer placement and adaptation of calculations to real well conditions. The application of the developed method helps to increase the reliability of the structure and improve the tightness of the cement sheath. The work demonstrates the need to move from simplified models to detailed calculations in modern drilling conditions.
