A comparative analysis of hydraulic fracturing in complicated conditions (based on the example of Stavropol Krai and Priobskoye fields)

Annotation:

The authors of the article conducted a comparative analysis of using hydraulic fracturing (HF) in fields of the Stavropol Krai and the Priobskoye Field (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug). They identified the key factors influencing the effectiveness of the operations, including reservoir geological specific features, process parameters of the operations being carried out and economic aspects. Within the period under consideration, the number of hydraulic fracturing operations, that caused complications during their execution at fields of the Stavropol Krai, reached 13 % of the total number of all hydraulic fracturing operations performed, bringing significant financial losses. At the same time, the experience obtained in the Priobskoye field, demonstrates the successful application of cluster hydraulic fracturing technology, which allows minimizing the risks of complications and providing time and materials saving. The authors offer practical recommendations for optimizing technological processes, including fracturing fluids formulations adaptation, using real-time monitoring systems, and implementing geo-mechanical modeling methods. The results of the study can be used for improving the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing at fields with similar geological conditions.
