Well construction quality is largely determined by the technology used to penetrate the productive formation. Drilling fluid interacts with the rock massive, affecting the formation's filtration properties: colmatation zones and inter-granular, hard-to-destroy membranes are formed. To improve the quality of primary formation drilling, special attention should be paid to the selection of drilling fluid type, taking into account the geological and physical properties of the reservoir rock, as well as to the appropriate drilling-in, wellbore flushing, and tripping operations. The authors of the article propose using a drilling fluid with a viscoelastic surfactant (VES)-based on structure-forming agent for drilling in productive formations at fields in the Udmurt Republic. The effectiveness of using drilling fluid additives is achieved by slowing the reaction rate with dense carbonate rocks in productive formations as well as by reducing filtration resistance in the formation by limiting the formation of secondary sediments after the acid composition neutralization. The performed studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of using a drilling fluid with improved process properties: increasing the reaction rate control range, preventing secondary sedimentation and complete removal of reaction products from the formation during its development.
