Annotation:

According to the terminology adopted by the oil and gas industry, perfect wells are those ones that penetrate the formation entire thickness and operate with an open wellbore without a casing string in the formation. A well is considered imperfect in terms of formation penetration if it has not penetrated the entire formation thickness but only partially. Furthermore, a well may be imperfect in terms of a formation penetration if fluid (gas/oil) inflow into the wellbore occurs through a system of artificially created holes on the surface of the production casing – vertical, horizontal or perforation slots. (If the wellbore is open in the formation, i. e., there is no production casing string, the well is called perfect in terms of formation penetration.) The authors of the article propose a method for calculating additional filtration resistances for wells with imperfect formation penetration. The presented method can be used to determine rational technical and technological solutions for well completion. Furthermore, it enables the development of a computer program to automate calculations of filtration resistances for imperfect wells.
