Annotation:
At the moment, a significant number of pipelines service life has exceeded its design values. Guarantee of these pipelines safe operation is an important task, which requires determining the technical state of the pipeline, its operational life length and remaining resource. This task for underground pipelines has been sufficiently studied however for aboveground pipelines there is a necessity of developing new methods and mechanisms for estimating and calculating the remaining resource. Earlier, the authors of the article conducted a study of the pipe metal mechanical properties of the main aboveground gas pipelines as well as compared the results obtained with the data of similar tests performed earlier. Using the results of the tests obtained, the authors analyzed the possibility of determining the residual operational life-time of aboveground main pipelines based on the degradation of the metal mechanical properties. The results of the study confirm the prospects for including this technique in the general algorithm for assessing the technical state and determining the durability of on-land pipelines operational life. When evaluating mechanical properties, there exists a possibility of obtaining test results that do not meet the established regulatory requirements. In this regard, the authors of the present study developed and presented a mechanism for calculating the maximum allowable operational pressure in conditions of mechanical properties deviation from standard values.
