Application of tracer studies when organizing water flooding on the example of the high-viscous-oil Permo Carboniferous deposit

Annotation:

The authors of the article, using a multi-layer high-viscous oil field as an example, consider the use of tracer studies to assess the efficiency of an organized flooding system. At the field under study, depending on the degree of objects opening, the working agent is injected into injection wells and fluid is withdrawn from production wells both within the same objects and from different objects. The presence of vertical heterogeneity, high oil viscosity and a complex geological structure of the field cause uncertainty when selecting design solutions, one of which is the configuration of the reservoir pressure maintenance system and the scheme for opening productive layers. The use of modern development control methods, including tracer studies, allows for a prompt assessment of the efficiency of the applied development system. Based on the analysis of 18 tracer studies for the period of 2017–2024, recommendations are given for improving the field water-flooding system.
