Innovation activity in organizations of fuel and energy complex and assessment of its effectiveness

Annotation:

The relevance of the research is caused by the tasks of the Russian Federation energy strategy for the development of scientific, technical and innovative activities in the sectors of the fuel and energy complex of the country. These tasks can be accomplished within the framework of the implementation of relevant innovative projects. The author of the article considers the ongoing innovative projects and the infrastructure for their support of leading energy and oil and gas companies included in the ranking of the 50 most innovative companies in the world in 2023 published by Boston Consulting Group. In the context of economic uncertainty and deterioration of macroeconomic conditions, the author proposes to form a portfolio of innovative projects on the basis of the company’s innovative potential with the determination of the innovative projects profitability index. The approach proposed to the innovative projects portfolio is aimed at creating new highly competitive products and increasing the profitability of organizations engaged in the fuel and energy complex. It is recommended to assess the effectiveness of innovative projects implementation by a fact-based analysis of the values of the innovation profitability index. As additional indicators, the calculation of indicators that provide growth of innovative labor productivity, estimation of the share of innovative products sold in monetary terms in the total revenue of the organization and an increase of the number of patents for inventions with economic effect is proposed.
