Annotation:
The competitiveness of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline gas in the regional markets of Russia is determined by a combination of economic, infrastructural and geographical factors. Russia, which has the world's largest natural gas reserves, is actively developing all directions, but their profitability and efficiency vary depending on the specifics of the regions. Pipeline gas, traditionally dominant in the European part of the country and in the areas with a developed gas transportation system, retains an advantage due to the low cost of supplies with large volumes and long-term contracts. However, the high capital intensity of pipelines construction (especially in the Far North or hard-to-reach regions) limits its use. In contrast, LNG, despite the additional costs of liquefaction, transportation and regasification, demonstrates flexibility in logistics, which makes it a key solution for remote markets such as the Far East, the Arctic and isolated industrial clusters.
