Annotation:

The authors of the article consider the prospects for using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an alternative motor fuel in Russia as well as carry out a comprehensive interdisciplinary analysis encompassing economic, environmental, infrastructural and social-professional aspects of LNG implementation. The study employs methods such as regression analysis, financial modeling (NPV), life cycle assessment (LCA), scenario forecasting, and legal analysis. The study is based on data of 2020–2024 and covers the key regions including Moscow region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Primorsky Krai, and Novosibirsk region. The results indicate that using LNG allows reducing transportation costs by 30–35 % and CO2 emissions by 25–30 %. The study reveals a shortage of qualified personnel and underdeveloped infrastructure outside the central regions. Prediction data up to 2030 suggest a 2,5-fold increase of LNG consumption in case of sustained government support. The authors of the article offer recommendations for the expansion of refueling infrastructure, development of specialized educational programs and perfection of regulatory frameworks. The results have practical implications for energy policy, sustainable development, and the modernization of the national transport sector.
