Annotation:

The measuring nodes of the marine environmental and hydro-acoustic monitoring system can be combined into a sound underwater local area network using Ethernet technologies. A signal through such a network propagates at the speed of a sound in water, which is much less than the propagation speed of a signal in wired networks. In this regard, for reliable recognition of the maximum distance between the most distant network nodes from each other, there should be no more than several tens of meters, which does not allow building a network of acceptable dimensions. This restriction can be lifted by using deterministic access instead of the probabilistic method of accessing the transmission channel. To assess the efficiency of using the deterministic access mode, it is advisable to use simulation in Matlab & Simulink or GPSS World. This article discusses the construction of a simulation model of an Ethernet network in the GPSS World environment.
