Annotation:

Based on I.L. Perlin methodology, taking into account the balance of active and reactive forces, a formula for calculating the pressing force of drill pipes with spiral finning is proposed. The cross section of the spiral pipe is presented as a smooth pipe with a helical metal texture and external spiral fins. A component has been added to the formula that takes into account the energy spent on the helical movement of the metal. It is shown that the resulting force is 28 % greater than the pressing force of a smooth pipe of the equal area. An increase of the helix angle of the fins causes an increase of force compared to the pressing force of longitudinally finned tubes.
