Annotation:

The article is devoted to the selection of methodological approaches and technologies for improving the quality of core material preparation at the initial stage, conducting profile measurements, taking samples and thin section. The correct approach when carrying out primary work with core material and sampling determines the reliability of the information obtained during laboratory studies of rocks, and also affects the results of interpretation of the data obtained. The constant increase in the share of hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves associated with complex carbonate reservoirs, shale oil source rocks, weakly cemented terrigenous deposits, highly fractured carbonates requires the use of new research technologies. The article presents some practical recommendations for handling core material obtained in the course of targeted work on the selection of the most suitable technologies for sample preparation and the creation of a rational complex for primary processing of core samples before petrophysical and geochemical studies.
