Annotation:

Complications which may occur during drilling of Frasnian single reefs in the Volostnovsky license area of the Orenburg region are considered. Catastrophic losses of drilling mud were revealed in various geological layers of the exposed section as well as in productive intervals of high-thickness Frasnian reefs. Frasnian single reefs have a complex geological structure, represented by porous-cavernous and cavernous-fractured reservoirs. Penetration of drilling mud into the formation and elimination of its loss causes reservoir properties deterioration, which has a significant impact on the further development of the oil reservoir of the reef massif. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a special approach at the initial stages of the object development. Reservoir properties preservation of reservoir rocks in the bottomhole formation zone is one of the main tasks when constructing wells in the reef fields of the Orenburg region. Analysis of drilling mud losses elimination by standard methods application at the Volostnovsky license area showed that in most cases the results of the operations carried out were either unsuccessful or only partially eliminated this type of complications. The article presents the successful results of a two-reagent method application to eliminate drilling mud losses and preserve reservoir properties in other fields. Recommendations for this technology implementation when drilling reefs in the Orenburg area or similar carbonate objects are made.
