Annotation:

The article presents the latest data on the volcanic rocks of the Domanic depression section of the Upper Devonian–tourne of the Mukhanovo-Erokhovskaya intra-shelf depression. Numerous thin interlayers of tuffites were identified in the core of the well of the Kutulukskiy license area (the north-western part of the Orenburg region), in which a complete sampling of high-quality core was performed in the interval of depression facies of the Fransnian-Tournaisian complex. Due to this, the core material can be used to trace the almost continuous history of the Mukhanovo-Erokhovskiy trough formation, including short geological events. The tuffites interlayers are identified in the Upper Fransnian, Famennian and Lower Tournaisian deposits. Their thicknesses vary from a few millimeters to several centimeters. They stand out well in the section due to the luminescence in the ultraviolet light. In contrast to the host Domanic facies, tuffites have mineral and material compositions anomalous for the section. Laboratory studies have revealed in volcanic rocks mica silicate minerals, zeolites, mixed-layered clay minerals, feldspars, tridymite, etc. Tuffites are characterized by a low content of Corg. Comparison of the rocks from volcanic interlayers and domanicite rocks is given. Based on the new information, the geological processes that took place during volcanic activity periods and their impact on the geological development of the Mukhanovo-Erokhovskaya depression are considered.
