This paper is dedicated to the problem of carbonate rocks dissolution in chelating reagents solutions and selection of well stimulation fluids based on the reagents. These reagents possess a number of advantages over traditional HCl-based compositions. The main disadvantage of these compositions is the low dissolution capacity. This can be eliminated by studying carbonates dissolution mechanism at different conditions and additives selection with the further composition optimization. The results, presented in this paper, show, that maximum dissolution capacity of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) towards carbonate rock is observed at neutral pH values because of the combination between protonic attack and surface complexation. Addition of citric acid and ammonium chloride results in the increase of the dissolution capacity. This occurs due to the of the diffusion coefficient and adsorption energy increase, which we revealed with the molecular dynamics simulation. The obtained composition may be optimized to create fluid for the effective carbonates stimulation.
