Annotation:

The use of high-moor peat as a raw material was studied for obtaining sorbent materials (hereinafter referred to as SM), which can be used when eliminating oil spills. The existing methods of activating high-moor peat to improve its sorption properties such as thermal, chemical and combined ones are analyzed. A series of sorbent materials based on high-moor peat are obtained and studied. Dependences of changes in the activated materials sorption properties on the method of activation have been established. The most effective way to activate the object of the study is determined. Sorbent materials (SM) with constant sorption characteristics with respect to oil have been obtained. Activated sorbent materials (SM) with industrial analogues, used in the territory of the Russian Federation during oil spill response have been comparatively analyzed. The SM obtained by the authors can be recommended for use as a means for eliminating oil and oil product spills.
