Choice of an increased oil recovery method for high-viscous oil fields on the basis of a multi-criteria approach

Annotation:

The analysis of the situation in the oil and gas industry in recent years shows that the time for "easy oil" has passed away: almost two thirds of Russia’s oil reserves are hard-to-recover reserves (HTRR). The share of hard-to-recover oil in our country has reached nearly 22 % of the total volume of the proven world reserves.

The modern oil and gas industry should look for answers to two challenges of time – an increase of the share of HTRR production and the necessity of reducing the carbon footprint, including the increase of investment attractiveness. To solve these problems, rational approaches to the choice of a cost-effective method of oil recovery enhancement are required.

The multi-criteria analysis methodology is actively used in other industries, but it is extremely rare in the oil industry.
