Improving approaches to geological exploration in the perm region in the 2000s as a factor in the growth of oil production

Annotation:

The subject of the study is oil fields of the Perm Region, which is one of the oldest regions of hydrocarbon production in Russia. The historical dynamics of oil production is illustrated by the example of LUKOIL–PERM LLC, the largest oil-producing enterprise in the Perm Region, according to which, for the period 2000–2019, there is a repeated growth after the maximum reached in 1976.

The purpose of the work was to review the fields put into development during the specified period, to identify their main features, as well as to determine approaches to improving the conduct of geological prospecting, which allowed these fields to be put into development.

The role of geological prospecting is noted, as well as development technologies, due to which was possible to bring into production newly discovered fields into operation. A number of factors that contributed to the forming of complex solutions for the development of one of the oldest oil production regions are indicated.

During the analysis, authors were based on previously performed work of the defining of 6 time periods, which are typical for oil production history in the Perm Region in 1939–2019.

The results presented in the article are the next step in generalizing the experience of field development aimed at a detailed search and analysis of the oil production increase causes in the Perm Region.

The authors plan to consider the following topics in more detail in the future: The use of complex design wells on the fields of the Perm Region as a factor of increasing oil production; to consider the experience of development of individual fields of the Perm Region, which have characteristic distinctive features.
