Some regularities of selecting effective demulsifiers for oil preparation in fields conditions

Annotation:

Based on long-standing researches as far as the use of various types of demulsifiers for the preparation of mixed types of oil in the field conditions of a number of oil-producing regions, dependencies were built between the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of surfactant molecules (surfactants), and the effectiveness of their processing of certain oil emulsions. Regular connections between HLB demulsifiers and the hydrocarbon composition of this oil were confirmed as well as with the density and viscosity of oil processed at different temperatures and the properties of produced formation waters.

The matrix of properties classification was expanded taking into account the ranking of the efficiency of oil treatment with demulsifiers and comparison with groups of oils within the previously proposed classifications, including the parameter of oil emulsions stability to stratification by the difference between the densities of oil and water.

It is proposed to use the obtained patterns in future for preliminary selection of the most effective demulsifiers when processing oil produced from specific fields, including those ones for rating studies of a set of reagents as well as planning scientific experiments at the stage of development of domestic demulsifiers new types and ranges.
