Current state and prospects for the digital transformation in oil and gas companies

Annotation:

The features of the implementation of the digital twins technology of production facilities and technological processes of domestic oil and gas companies is analyzed. The first part of the article overviews the main provisions of strategic planning documents on the digital transformation of oil and gas companies and the role of digital twin technologies in this area. Based on the results of the overview, the main concept of this technology is highlighted. In addition, based on the results of the analysis of the current state of digitalization presented in the development and digital transformation strategies, the generalized conditions required for the development and effective operation of digital twins’ technology at oil and gas industry facilities have been identified. The second part of the article is devoted to the analysis of the projects that envisage digital twin technologies implementation throughout the entire technological chain, including hydrocarbons production, transportation and processing, which have been implemented by now. Based on the results of the of the accumulated practical experience analysis of this technology implementation in the oil and gas sector, a number of directions have been identified that require priority research.
