Annotation:

Hydraulic calculations are a part of engineering software in many fields, including oil and gas production. Such technological operations as hydraulic fracturing involve pumping suspensions (mixtures of liquids with solid unsoluble particles) through the pipe or into the well. The scheduled plan of such operations often implies the change of solid particles concentration in the mixture according to the linear law, also called a "ramp". However, the uncertanty of "concentration" and "ramp" concepts is most often ignored and the concepts are used incorrectly. The authors of the article present different formalization variants, settings and solutions of the volumes calculation problem for a linear ramp of suspension concentrations. The equations, earlier unpublished, connecting instantaneous and accumulated pure fluid and slurry masses and volumes are given for every problem statement. The authors of the article also present the facts of such calculation methods incorrectness, found in the engineering practice and in the numerical schemes development, that can lead to the violation of the material balance rule.
