The problem of determining the conditions for achieving the minimum average value of pressure drop in a pipeline when ruptures occur is considered and solved by the authors of the article. The environmental value of solving this problem lies in the fact that the minimum pressure drop in a pipeline means minimal pollutant emissions into the environment. The result of the analysis proved the fact that the minimum average value of pressure drop in a pipeline can be ensured by observing the quadratic dependence between the cross-section of the pipe and the propagation speed of the negative pressure drop.
