When choosing the optimal autonomous power supply sources (APSS) for linear consumers of main gas pipelines (LC MGP), designers face the problem of choosing the main power supply source. The lack of effective decision-making methods of the problem solution complicates this task and leads to a potential non-optimal choice. The authors of the article overview modern types of APSS with a description of a power generation principle of each of them as well as discuss their advantages and disadvantages. In addition, a comparative analysis methodology is proposed using an expert assessment method based on 14 criteria to select the most appropriate APSS for a particular LC MGP, depending on the selected performance criteria. The proposed APSS efficiency criteria are based on a wide range of technical and operational characteristics of power supplies and take into account the characteristics of each type of APSS. The developed methodology also allows comparing modern APSS according to two separate criteria.
