Annotation:

Drilling flushing fluids are one of the most important components of the well drilling process. The filtration rate is one of the most important parameters of the water-based reservoir drilling fluid. The filtration rate is determined experimentally using a static or dynamic type filter press. Analyzing the laws of filtration, it could be concluded that from the parameters measured by laboratory methods, the filtration index is affected by both the permeability of the filter cake and the viscosity of the filtrate. The physicochemical interaction of drilling fluid reagents, which affects the filtration rate, is much more difficult to determine than the parameters included in the filtration equation. This article presents the authors’ software package that allows determining the filter cake permeability by the results of the standard filter press test. The results obtained during this software application can be used for further optimization of drilling fluids formulations and reduction of their filtrate recovery.
