Annotation:

About 60 % of production wells in the oil fields of Russia are operated by electric submersible pumps (ESP). These pumping units are characterized by high operational and energy efficiency. One of the complicating factors that negatively affect the ESP run time in a well is presence of mechanical impurities particles in the produced reservoir fluid. Abrasive wear and clogging of the wheels flow channels and guide apparatuses of the working stages of electric centrifugal pumps are the cause of up to 30 % of ESP failures in the oil fields of the Urals and Western Siberia. The article considers the main regularities of hydro-abrasive wear of the working stages parts of oil well electric submersible pumps. The design of a self-cleaning slotted filter is proposed, which provides an increase of an ESP operational life-time when producing well fluid with a high content of mechanical impurities. The principle of the proposed filter operation and a method for restoring the filter element permeability in downhole conditions are described.
