Annotation:

Oil and gas wells today are drilled not only to open oil and gas reservoirs, although for more than a century they have performed precisely this task. Over the past 20 years, due to the rapid development of horizontal drilling and then multilateral wells, the area of reservoirs opening by drilling has increased by orders of magnitude. Multilateral wells effectively perform two tasks, namely, opening the reservoir and increasing the area of contact with it. The article presents the main advantages of building this type of wells.
