Influence of diamond tool design on hydraulic drilling processes

Annotation:

The article discusses the issues that determine the necessity of studying the influence of a diamond drilling tool design on the hydraulic processes associated with drilling. The role of hydrodynamic processes in the rock destruction is noted. On the basis of a complex of analytical, experimental research and computer modeling methods, the fluid circulation in the contact zone of a rock cutting drilling tool with a rock was analyzed. The main geometric parameters that affect the nature of fluid circulation in the near well bottom zone are described and the shortcomings of the flushing system of classically-designed diamond drilling tools are noted. The necessity is substantiated and directions for improving the design of a diamond tool are proposed in order to increase the possibility of flushing liquid penetration into the zone of cutting element contact with rock.
