Annotation:

The article, for the first time, using the example of the "Nord Stream 2" offshore gas pipeline (OGP) route, presents the practical results of choosing the gas pipeline section optimal route. The retrospective data of geo-engineering surveys in the corridor of the main route of the section of the Russian part of the OGP in the Gulf of Finland are given. Geomorphological features are described in order to predict the possibilities and limitations of work on the OGP section arrangement. Possible options for OGP section route are considered: the basic option of laying the pipeline arc around the free spans and the option of linear laying with backfilling of the free span zones. It is revealed that, despite the increase of materials and work cost in terms of gravel dumping for of the seabed sections leveling, the scope of work is decreasing: on surveying the bottom by using the echo sounder and divers; on implementing gravel dumping in order to increase stability and reduce stresses of the OGP section; on installation, laying, quality control, due to 263 m length reduction of the section under consideration. The reduction of the object estimated cost by 81805,2 thousand rubles was revealed when straightening the section of the OGP route relative to laying by an arc.
