Annotation:

Despite a significant variety of geological drilling conditions, most of the areas of the Timano-Pechora oil- and gas-bearing province have a single factor – the presence in the section of a large number of clay rocks of various degrees of lithification. The article considers the features of well construction at a number of fields in the province using water-based drilling fluids. Practical drilling experience shows that the success of drilling a well in clayey rocks is a complex indicator that depends on the correct choice of the drilling technology and the optimal composition and characteristics of the drilling fluid. A decision-making algorithm for choosing the composition of the drilling fluid is presented.
