Annotation:

The article presents the results of modeling the movement of drilling fluid in the annular space, taking into account the tool joint. The simulation was carried out using the Ansys Fluent software package. As drilling fluids, the drilling fluids data described by the Herschel–Bulkley rheological model were used. As a result of the simulation, the data were obtained about the influence of the tool joint and rheological characteristics on pressure losses in the well annulus. The presented modeling technique can be applied to solve a wide range of hydraulic problems when drilling wells.
