Annotation:
To date, the loss of oil and oil products from evaporation through breathing valves in vertical steel tanks during production in oil and gas fields as well as during processing, transportation, storage, cause significant material and economic damage to the oil and gas industry. In order to reduce them in vertical steel tanks, various engineering and technical solutions are currently being used: pontoons of various designs, both made of synthetic materials and aluminum or corrosion-resistant steels. In addition, floating roof tanks of various designs, both double-deck and single-deck, depending on the volume of the stored oil product and the regional location – the type of snow load, have become quite widespread. Disks-reflectors are also quite widespread nowadays, which are installed under breathing valves as a temporary means of reducing evaporation losses. They can be used in various types of tanks. The article describes disks-reflector as the most common means of reducing losses from "large" and "small" tank breaths.
