Annotation:

The use of invert-emulsion solutions (IES) allows drilling in difficult geological conditions, including drilling ofextended-reachwells. When constructing such wells, increased requirements are imposed on the drilling fluid in terms of rheological parameters, which should ensure effective cleaning of the wellbore from cuttings, while not allowing the values of the equivalent circulating density (ECD) to exceed the values of the equivalent circulation density over the values of the gradient of the circulation loss and hydraulic fracturing. In accordance with this, studies aimed at expanding the control ranges and optimizing the rheological properties of the IESappears relevant. The article overviews modern approaches to the regulation of rheological parameters of oil-based drilling fluids. It is shown that one of the most promising ways to control the rheological properties of IES is the use of amphiphilic substances of various compositions and structures, which have the properties of rheology modifiers and are capable of forming associative complexes structuring the hydrocarbon phase of the solution under conditions of low shear rates. According to The research results allowed revealing the fact, that hydrophobically modified acrylic copolymers and derivatives of unsaturated fatty acids can be used as effective rheology modifiers of IES. These reagents expand the possibilities of optimizing the rheological properties of IES for specific application conditions by increasing the range of dynamic shear stress control, including at low shear rates, without increasing the plastic viscosity of the solution. The rheology modifiers selected based on the results of the studies have a positive effect on the IES inhibitory ability, reducing the degree of swelling and softening of unstable rocks in contact with the solution.
