Annotation:

The article considers the use of various techniques and methods for complication zones isolation when drilling wells in the oil and gas industry. The main attention is paid to the process complication zones isolation using profile shutters, which allow maintaining the nominal diameter of the well. It requires increasing the complication interval diameter using expanders. The article notes that the greatest efficiency is achieved by simultaneous drilling and expansion of the wellbore using expandable under-reamers. Such expanders are highly wear-resistant and can withstand significant loads. The article also discusses the difficulties that arise when drilling directional wells with simultaneous expansion of the wellbore. One of the main problems is the spontaneous increase of the zenith angle when an expander is included in the bottom of the drill string assembly. Wells which were drilled with simultaneous expansion of the wellbore were subjected to the analysis. The analysis proved the fact that when the zenith angle is more than 300 prior the expansion, a more intense increase of the zenith angle is observe. To solve this problem, it is proposed to use a controlled drill string, which can increase the zenith angle with a given intensity or stabilize it throughout the interval.
