Annotation:
Currently, almost half of oil reserves and about 70 % of gas are located in permafrost areas. In the territory of the Russian Federation, the total area of permafrost rocks, which are also called perennially frozen rock (PFR), reaches more than 10 mln km2. It is almost half of the entire territory of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the well drilling volume sin the areas of permafrost distribution in complex geological, hydrogeological and climatic conditions continue growing. The authors of the article identify the problems of wells construction in permafrost rocks caused by their thawing during drilling and hydrocarbons production. The approaches to solving problems by using adequate drilling and cement solutions, applying new non-traditional technologies are shown. The necessity of hydrodynamic pressure testing of the open wellbore for the design pressure is proven. Additional requirements for the design of wells, for the selection of drilling and cement solutions during drilling are formulated.
