Annotation:
It is generally accepted to classify wells by their radii of curvature into wells with large, medium, short and ultra-short radii. Moreover, when classifying wells by radii, the rigidity of the drill string assemblies, including the BHA, as well as casing strings, and technological features of wellbore deepening are usually not taken into account. Radii of curvature are usually classified by their dimensions in meters or feet, without taking into account the diameters of the wellbores. At the same time, for one and the same radius of curvature, some operations are permissible, while the other ones are dangerous, depending on the diameter of the wellbore. The authors of the article propose to link the radii of curvature with the diameters of the wellbore, and also to abandon the concept of "ultra-short radius of curvature", since there is no control and management of the trajectory in this case.
