Annotation:

Information technologies late achievements allow solving the problems of improving the designs of drill bits cutting structuresat a higher level. These problems are solved at the stage of bits designing thus making relevant the development of a methodology for assessing the efficiency of the designed drill bits cutting structures. One of the causes of reducing the efficiency of drill bits cutting structuresis the formation of a rack (tracking) at the bottomhole, that’s why the developed methodology should have a tool which provides the possibility of estimating tracking by drill bits cutting structures at the stage of designing and finding ways to eliminate it. In order to solve this problem, the authors of the article propose a computer program developed at Ufa State Petroleum Technological University for reproducing the movement of roller bit crowns. The program allows visualizing the process of movement of one, two or three crowns of roller bits along the bottomhole of a well beingdrilled on the computer screen and forming a bottomhole profile depending on their geometric and kinematic characteristics. Knowledge of the kinematics of drill bits cutting structuresand understanding of the process of a bottomhole formation by individual crowns of the drill bit will contribute to trace reserves for improvement of both the design of drill bits cutting structuresand drilling modes.
