Annotation:

The article presents theoretical studies of the turbulence ability of a turbine centralizer with various profiles used when drilling directional and horizontal sections of a well in order to determine the optimal profile geometry that allows maintaining a developed turbulent flow of the drilling fluid with a high frequency and amplitude of local velocity pulsations. Turbulent flow does not allow cuttings to settle on the walls of directional and horizontal sections of the well, which makes it possible to reduce the "slurry cushion" and thereby the number of mechanical sticking. This event helps reducing the amount of non-productive time during well construction, which has a positive effect on the economic performances of an oil service company. In the course of the work, a set of studies was carried out required for achieving the goal, namely: developing a set of geometric models based on common centralizer profiles as well as a theoretical model of a viscous fluid movement for the problem under consideration (represented by the Navier-Stokes equation taking into account a number of assumptions), describing the turbulent flow of the flushing fluid in the vicinity of the centralizer.
