Annotation:

The author of the article provides a comparative description of operation of rock cutting tools with innovative Stinger inserts, which allow more efficient destruction of rock when drilling directional wells. In particular, the process of drill bits operation in the fields of the Orenburg region is considered, where there is an excess of the planned indicators of the mechanical rate of penetration compared to standard drill bits during the construction of sections for the production casing string. This type of drill bits differs by its destructive structure, which allows carrying out a two-stage rock destroying operation. At the first stage, preliminary rock destruction is performed by contact pressing the cutter into the rock, at the second one - the previously destroyed rock sample is chipped. The bits proved their high efficiency when drilling wells in the Garshinskoye, Rostashi-Konnovskoye and Zaikinsko-Zorinskoye fields.
