Annotation:
With the reduction of more accessible reserves of light oil, the development of deposits of heavy high-viscosity oils and natural bitumen is becoming a priority for many oil and gas companies. However, the development of such hydrocarbon resources requires large investments on the part of companies in the creation of new production technologies within the framework of these preferential conditions in order to make production profitable. Currently, the most common methods for the development of heavy oil and natural bitumen are SAGD, cyclic steam treatment and in-situ combustion. These methods ensure the mobility of high-viscosity oils in reservoirs by changing some physico-chemical properties. However, thermal methods require expensive technologies and operating costs. In order to reduce the cost of development, new methods based on nanotechnology have been considered. The use of nanotechnology in thermal development methods is becoming an alternative for the extraction of superheavy and heavy crude oil technology, which can lead to lower energy consumption, less environmental pollution and the achievement of a high recovery factor. This article provides an overview of recent research in the field of nanocatalyst applications as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach to the discovery of heavy high-viscosity oil resources.
