Analysis of core isolation during its collection. Problems and solutions

Annotation:

Isolated core collection is the most important stage in the construction of prospecting and exploration wells in order to obtain complete, reliable stone material. The authors of the article analyze the process fluids used for collecting isolated core. Attention is focused on the technological parameters of drilling fluids and well cleaning modes, which are not fully regulated by industry guidelines. There are standards of individual companies that take into account the geological-technical conditions at their license areas as well as internal organizational and other specific features. Taking into account reasonable requirements, "CorIsoGel"core insulating liquids have been developed. A gel-like non-invasive homogeneous liquid on a non-hydrocarbon basis is designed to isolate core during its collection. When the core enters the core receiver, "CorIsoGel" forms a protective shell (film) that isolates the core from the drilling fluid influence and prevents contact with air during transportation and storage. The specific features of the compositions and technological parameters of "CorIsoGel" have been studied. In the course of experimental studies, the influence of the "CorIsoGel" core-isolating fluid on the fluid saturation of oil-saturated rock cores and on the properties of the pore fluid in them was assessed.
