Annotation:

The authors of the article consider the problems of assessing the stress state of a drill string during directional drilling of wells. The researches resulted in getting the corresponding formulas for equivalent stresses calculationsaccording to the classical concepts of strength theory. As a comparison, a variant of assessing the stress state based on shear resistance was proposed as a variant of the structural-analytical theory of strength at the macro-scale level. When implementing the considered example in an elastic-plastic formulation, a negative result was obtained only within the framework of the structural-analytical theory of strength, which shows the flexibility and sensitivity of the proposed structural-analytical theory to any changes in the structure of the material that should be taken into account for long-term operated objects, including drill pipes.
