Annotation:
The relevance of the study is caused by the problem of predicting the borehole walls preservation in an elastic state during drilling. When calculating rocks main strength characteristic, there should be strength under uniform compression. But its determination in each specific case is associated with great technical difficulties. The authors of the article present the results of regression analysis of the tests published data under uniaxial compression of sedimentary rocks main groups, which resulted in obtaining the dependences of rock strength on their uniaxial compression strength and the magnitude of uniaxial compression. The calculated indicators correspond to the rocks strength in conditions of their occurrence. Verification of the obtained dependencies by independent test results simulating the deformation and destruction of borehole walls gave positive results.
