Annotation:
The technological parameters of polymer-cationic drilling fluids (DF) are determined according to the existing methods that were developed for polymer-anionic and polymer-nonionic DF. However, the practice of using polymer-cationic drilling fluids has proved the fact, that existing methods are applicable for assessing the technological parameters of the polymer-cationic system after their actualization. The methods that should be updated include the method for determining the MBT or clay colloidal fraction, which affects the inhibiting and strengthening capacity of the polymer-cationic drilling fluid, as well as the rheological characteristics and quality of drilling into the terrigenous formation. According to the updated methodology, the MBT index is determined by a formula with a smaller step. The second methodology that requires updating is the method for determining the sand content in a polymer-cationic drilling fluid. As a rule, dilution of a polymer-cationic drilling fluidby water, according to this methodology, causes the formation of polyelectrolyte complexes that precipitate together with the solid phase and are mistaken for sand. According to the updated methodology, the sand content is determined using mineralized water for dilution.
