Annotation:
Operation of railway tank cars transporting high-viscosity hydrocarbons and petroleum products (oil, fuel oil, soap stock, GACh – paraffin slack wax) in Russia is accompanied by thickening and incomplete discharge of raw materials in the cold period of the year. When heating and draining the remains of viscous oil products from railway tank cars during their preparation for repair or for new filling, a large amount of thermal energy is expended. Currently, a lot of methods have been developed for heating and draining viscous oil products from tanks, but the technological operations still remain energy-intensive, lengthy and explosion and fire hazardous. Due to the fact that large volumes of viscous oil products are transported by rail in Russia, optimization of the technology for heating the remains of thickened oil products in a tank is an urgent scientific and technical task. The authors of the article consider some ways of improving the efficiency of high-viscosity hydrocarbons discharge by their liquefaction using the hydro-cavitation method. The technology and the installation implementing it by using super-cavitation phenomena in jet streams of liquid are presented. The characteristics of the designs are given. The installation has passed bench and industrial tests.
