In the context of increasing costs of wells overhaul, significant attention in the oil and gas sector is beginning to be paid to optimizing the lower well completion stage. The problem becomes particularly relevant when developing offshore and hard-to-reach fields, where well construction and maintenance is associated with high economic costs. In such conditions, ensuring the reliability and productivity of wells becomes a key factor of the resources successful development. To achieve these goals, an integrated approach is required that takes into account specific features of the geological structure, the physical-chemical properties of the reservoirs environment and the produced fluid as well as modern well construction and completion technologies. When constructing wells in complex geological conditions, an important aspect is the choice of rational solutions aimed at increasing reliability, productivity and minimizing subsequent operational costs. It is achieved by rational wells design, use of innovative materials, advanced drilling technologies and lower completion methods adapted to specific reservoir conditions as well as the implementation of effective risk management systems. Priority should be given to technologies that ensure long-term well operability and reduce the likelihood of emergency situations. An integrated approach to the design and implementation of wells construction final stages ensures their long-term operation with minimal costs for maintenance and repair. One of the key elements of successful well completion is well filters, which prevent mechanical impurities from entering the wellbore and maintain the stability of the bottomhole reservoir zone. The author of the article will consider various types of well filter designs and identify the main reasons for the loss of their operability [1].
