Annotation:
The article considers the process of constructing underwater crossings applying the directional drilling (DD) method. The DD method makes it possible to minimize the construction time of main pipelines underwater crossings, however, it has a number of both technical and technological drawbacks, to assess which the conditions and basic principles of operation of the drilling tools used in the construction of underwater crossings were studied. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that equipping rolling cutter reamers with specially oriented helical cutting tools makes it possible to increase the mechanical speed of drilling and penetration per tool when forming large diameter wells, which ultimately reduces the time and cost of constructing underwater crossings of main pipelines.
