Annotation:

The article proposes a new method of the pipeline transport diagnostics by low-frequency directional waves by means of correlation dependences analysis. To check that hypothesis a number of experiments was conducted, involving steel pipes with diameters of 1/2 and 3/4 inches consisting of sections the length of each of them was 55 mm, in different configurations. The pipes consisted of three and five sections correspondingly. The gaps in threaded joints were made to imitate the defects. To take readings, ВК-5М vibration meter was used to generate waves in a low-frequency range. Based on the results of the conducted testing, graphs of vibrational amplitude dependence on the frequency were built with account of the defect presence and location in the object. Based on the experiments, some conclusions were made about possible development and application of the new method of non-destructing testing using low frequency waves for diagnosing defects in small diameter pipes, thus, in turn, allowing pipes diagnosing without the pipeline decommissioning.
