Quality management of tertiary methods to increase oil recovery on the example of cyclic steam treatment

Annotation:

The presented article considers the issues of developing fields with hard-to-recover oil reserves (HRR) and is focused on the analysis of the tertiary methods’ effectiveness for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). The article proposes and explains a generalized concept of "EOR tertiary methods quality", determines the factors affecting the quality of tertiary oil recovery methods. Based on the example of cyclic steam treatment technology (STT), a solution that allows minimizing the known disadvantages of this technology, being a replacement of the injected agent by a mixture of gases with a certain composition is suggested. Herewith, the substantiation of the component content selection was carried out by means of mathematical modeling of the thermal-steam formation treatment. As a result of the performed calculations, an increase in the quality of the STT was proved when the injected agent was changed from water vapor to the specified mixture of gases.
