Annotation:

Currently, when developing oil and gas fields horizontal drilling is becoming more and more popular. And over time, this trend will be only increasing, because drilling horizontal wells is more efficient and cost effective compared to vertical or directional wells. With increasing the share of horizontal drilling, the problem of choosing technical control systems, monitoring the drilling trajectory and transmitting complete geological-geophysical information from the bottom of the well during drilling is becoming more and more topical. It is extremely important to understand how the trajectory goes and where the bottom of the well is at the current moment, because high-quality and efficient geological steering plays a decisive role in accurate drilling of the wellbore along the productive horizon, especially in case of availability of long horizontal sections in a limited drilling corridor. The of such support results in increasing commercial speed of drilling by reducing the time for making decisions on adjustments during the drilling process. The article presents the experience of drilling horizontal wells in the fields of RUE "Production Association "Belorusneft" using two different systems which provide technical control and management over the drilling trajectory.
